Freezing and Bursting Pipes Threat Policy

St. Luke’s Eye Care and Laser Center will take special precautions in the event that temperatures fall below 20 degrees Fahrenheit or weather forecasts predict temperatures falling below 20 degrees Fahrenheit.  These precautions include:

·        Letting all faucets drip slowly overnight and during the day when temperatures may reach 20 degrees Fahrenheit.

·        If dripping stops, keep faucet open to allow pressure relief.

·        Keep all areas of the building over 40 degrees Fahrenheit.

In the event of a burst water pipe:

·        Contact the building manager or building owner to shut off all water to the office immediately.

·        Clear the area of all important equipment, documents, or personnel as quickly as possible.

·        Attempt to clean up as much of the water as possible as quickly as possible to mitigate damage to the area.
