Medical Emergency Policy

Emergency situations may occur at St. Luke’s Eye Care and Laser Center which require paramedics or emergency personnel to be call to the office.

·        If an employee believes a medical emergency is occurring, the employee should contact a physician in the office immediately.

·        When a physician instructs office personnel to call paramedics, an employee should call 911. Provide the emergency personnel with the office’s address and remain on the line until emergency personnel arrive.

·        An employee should be sent to the entrance of the building in order to direct emergency personnel to the location of the medical emergency.

·        Anyone certified in CPR should initiate CPR if necessary.  Once paramedics arrive, turn over CPR to them unless they ask for assistance.

·        Remain on the scene in case assistance is required.
