Severe Weather Policy
St. Luke’s Eye Care and Laser Center recognizes that severe weather (blizzard) is possible.
If severe weather occurs while the office is open, the office manager, Sandra Robben-Weber, will evaluate the safety of patients and staff and may suggest allowing some staff to leave early or early closure of the office if necessary. The doctors will review their schedules and determine if a patient needs to be seen immediately or can wait until the severe weather clears in the next day or two. The front office manager and staff will call patients to reschedule or notify them to come in immediately as requested by the doctors.
The office manager, Sandra Robben-Weber, will consider informing local radio and/or television stations of office closure.
The front office manager, Gabby Estrada, will notify the answering service of the office closure.
If weather is severe enough, track patients and staff who will be staying in the clinic for an extended period of time. Provide them with blankets, water and food as available.
If severe weather occurs while the office is close, the office manager, Sandra Robben-Weber, will evaluate the safety of patients and staff and may consider not opening the office. The office manager will notify the back office manager, Brad Lovelace, and front office manager, Gabby Estrada, to activate the staff call list and inform everyone that the office will remain closed for the day. The front office staff will be responsible for calling the patients to let them know of the closure. All employees have computer access to the schedule from their home. They will instruct patients to call in the next day or two to reschedule. If the patient has an eye emergency that needs immediate attention there doctor will be notified and will call them with further instructions.
